Identifying priority areas for spatial management of mixed fisheries using ensemble of multi‐species distribution models

open access: yesFish and Fisheries, Volume 25, Issue 2, Page 187-204, March 2024.
Abstract Spatial fisheries management is widely used to reduce overfishing, rebuild stocks, and protect biodiversity. However, the effectiveness and optimization of spatial measures depend on accurately identifying ecologically meaningful areas, which can be difficult in mixed fisheries.

Survey on Penaeidae Shrimp Diversity and Exploitation in South East Coast of India [PDF]

open access: yesFisheries and Aquaculture Journal, 2014
The assessment of Penaeidae species diversity in a particular region is very important in formulating conservation strategies. In the present study, the survey on diversity of Penaeidae species in south east coast of India has been assessed on the basis of landing of variety of species in this group.

Coastal wetland restoration through the lens of Odum's theory of ecosystem development

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 32, Issue 3, March 2024.
Advancing ecological restoration assessments requires a more detailed consideration of species interactions and ecosystem processes. Most restoration projects rely on a few metrics not always directly linked with ecological theory. Here, we used Odum's theory of ecosystem development to assess and compare the ecosystem structure and services of created

Validating a molecular clock for nudibranchs—No fossils to the rescue

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2024.
Here, for the first time, we derive divergence rates for nudibranchs using multigene data from a previously undetected geminate pair, with rates exceeding those reported for shelled gastropods. We also erect a new species designation for the Western Atlantic clade, Chromolaichma hemera sp.

A review of behavioral testing in decapod shrimp (Caridea) and prawns (Dendrobranchiata) with applications for welfare assessment in aquaculture [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ
Evolving societal expectations are driving increasing interest in the welfare of decapod crustaceans, such as prawns and shrimp, grown in aquaculture. A key aspect of understanding an animal’s welfare-related needs is through assessing their behavior to ...

The complete mitochondrial genome of the Argentine red shrimp Pleoticus muelleri (Bate, 1888) (Crustacea, Decapoda, Solenoceridae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2018
The complete mitochondrial genome of Argentine red shrimp, Pleoticus muelleri (Bate, 1888) was determined using the MiSeq platform. Its mitogenome (16,189 bp) encoded the canonical 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes.
