Experiments on the growth of Penaeus vannamei Boone
Journal of Experimental Marine Biology and Ecology, 1980Growth rates of Penaeus vannamei Boone were estimated from field and laboratory experiments using both marked and unmarked shrimp. Field results with unmarked shrimp indicated growth rates of between 0.05 mm increase in carapace length per day (mm c.l./day) and 0.17 mm c.l./day, although rates of up to 0.31 mm c.l./day were also recorded.

cDNA cloning of the lysozyme of the white shrimp Penaeus vannamei
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2003Lysozyme, an antibacterial protein, has been implicated in innate immunity in invertebrates, but its activity in shrimp remained to be determined. We cloned the white shrimp lysozyme cDNA using a PCR strategy and detected its activity in haemocytes using a lytic-zone assay against Micrococcus luteus.
