IHHN virus: Infectivity and pathogenicity studies in Penaeus stylirostris and Penaeus vannamei
Aquaculture, 1984Abstract Infectivity studies of infectious hypodermal and hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHHNV) were conducted on Penaeus stylirostris and P. vannamei (representing species highly susceptible and highly refractory to the disease) via intramuscular injections of the virus. Distinctive histological lesion patterns were observed between species.

Penaeus vannamei protease stabilizing process of ZnS nanoparticles
International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2018The protease enzyme purified from the Penaeus vannamei shrimp has unique properties, so improving the stability of this enzyme can improve their practical applications. In this study, ZnS nanoparticles, which have special properties for enzyme immobilization, were synthesized using a chemical precipitation method, and Penaeus vannamei protease was ...

Characterisation of a serine proteinase from Penaeus vannamei haemocytes
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2005Serine proteinases are involved, besides digestive role, in immune response processes. In addition to the typical serine proteinase domain, proteinases from arthropod haemocytes contain so-called clip domains which are believed to exert regulatory functions.

Feeding experiments were conducted to determine the effect of sodium phytate as a phosphorus source for Penaeus japonicus and Penaeus vannamei juveniles. The dietary value of this compound was compared with that of disodium phosphate in terms of survival rate, feed intake, growth rate, number of molts as well as the calcium and phosphorus content of ...

A simple stress test for Penaeus vannamei postlarvae
Aquaculture, 1998Abstract The effects of age on resistance to low salinity and formalin stress were determined in early Penaeus vannamei postlarvae (PL) with acute static bioassays. Two-hour median lethal concentrations (2 h-LC50) of formalin were 274, 288, 298 and 293 ppm for PL ages of 1, 2, 3 and 4 days (PL1–PL4), respectively.

Evaluation of five carbohydrate sources for Penaeus vannamei
Aquaculture, 1993Abstract Utilizing chromic oxide as an inert marker, apparent digestibility coefficients of five carbohydrate sources were evaluated in 8.8 g Penaeus vannamei . Test diets for each ingredient, wheat starch, whole wheat, Nutribinder ® , sorghum and steam cracked corn, were prepared containing 70% semi-purified reference diet and 30% of the test ...

Fucosylation of hemocyanin is critical for antibacterial immunity in Penaeus vannamei
Fish & Shellfish ImmunologyPosttranslational modifications (PTMs) play a pivotal role in expanding the function of immune related proteins, especially during pathogen infections. However, the precise impact of PTMs on the functional diversity of proteins such as respiratory glycoproteins and hemocyanins remains incompletely understood.

Study on the Acoustic Signal Characteristics of Feeding Activity of Penaeus Vannamei
2020 IEEE International Conference on Signal Processing, Communications and Computing (ICSPCC), 2020To solve the problem of intelligent feeding of Penaeus Vannamei, this paper presents a study on the characteristics of acoustic signals during feeding, which can adaptively control the feeding amount. In this experiment, a sound acquisition system was designed for the weak sound signal of feeding of Penaeus Vannamei.

Immunofluorescence detection of Ecytonucleospora hepatopenaei (EHP) in Penaeus vannamei
Journal of Microbiological MethodsHepatopancreatic microsporidiosis (HPM), caused by the microsporidium Ecytonucleospora hepatopenaei (EHP) leads to retarded growth and enhanced susceptibility to other diseases in shrimp resulting in a major loss for the shrimp industry worldwide. It is little understood how EHP infects its host and hijacks its cellular machinery to replicate and exert
