The Genus Coremium and the Synnematous Penicillia
1986Species attributed to Coremium a genus long considered a synonym of Penicillium are revised based on the study of type specimens. Three new combinations in Penicillium are proposed: P. vulpinum (Cooke & Massee) Seifert & Samson for the species previously known as P. claviforme, P. coprophilum (Berk. & Curt.) Seifert & Samson for P.

Lumpidin, a Novel Biomarker of Some Ochratoxin A Producing Penicillia
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2001The novel compound lumpidin (1) has been isolated as a major compound from an isolate of Penicillium nordicum. Compound 1 is a diketopiperazine with a unique ring system likely to be a condensate of one mole each of L-tryptophan, L-phenylalanine, and L-homo-proline.

A technique for isolation of Penicillia from soil
Plant and Soil, 1972The effect of Nystatin (Mycostatin) on colonization of microfungi from mixed soil inocula was studied on nutrient agar plates supplemented with its various concentration. It was discovered that at its highest concentration only Penicillia could colonise the agar discs. It is a new suggestive technique for isolation of Penicillia from soil.

Penicillium marneffei: an insurgent species among the penicillia.
The Journal of eukaryotic microbiology, 2000Most species of Penicillium are considered relatively benign with respect to causing human disease. However, one species, P. marneffei, has emerged as a significant pathogen particularly among individuals who live in Southeast Asia and are concurrently infected with the human immunodeficiency virus.

Classification of Asymmetric Penicillia Using Expressions of Differentiation
1986In Subgenus Penicillium sect. Penicillium macromorphology, micromorphology, profiles of secondary metabolites and colony diameters are valuable criteria for the correct identification of isolates. Even though colours are used extensively in fungal taxonomy, secondary metabolites have not gained general acceptance as taxonomical characters.
