Psilocybin Production With Genetically Modified Aspergillus nidulans Under Pressurized Conditions

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 4, Page 886-898, April 2026.
Shake flask cultures of psilocybin‐producing A. nidulans were investigated with respect to nitrogen source, rheology, power input, and oxygen availability, and subsequently scaled to a stirred tank reactor scale based on specific power input to develop and optimize a pressurized bioprocess.

Sulfate transport in Penicillium chrysogenum plasma membranes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1996
Transport studies with Penicillium chrysogenum plasma membranes fused with cytochrome c oxidase liposomes demonstrate that sulfate uptake is driven by the transmembrane pH gradient and not by the transmembrane electrical potential. Ca2+ and other divalent cations are not required.

Cellulase Production by Wild-type Aspergillus niger, Penicillium chrysogenum and Trichoderma harzianum Using Waste Cellulosic Materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Waste cellulosic materials (corncob, sawdust and sugarcane pulp) and crystalline cellulose induced cellulase production in wild strains of Aspergillus niger, Penicillium chrysogenum and Trichoderma harzianum isolated from a wood-waste dump in Lagos ...

Fortifying Honey: The Effects of Blackcurrant Puree on Functional and Sensory Attributes

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Honey can serve as a matrix for the development of different functional formulations and food products by adding other plant‐based ingredients. This can further promote consumer acceptance and health‐beneficial value, but also improve product stability. In this case, honey was mixed with a phenolic‐rich blackcurrant puree.

Effect of Origanum heracleoticum L. essential oil on food-borne Penicillium aurantiogriseum and Penicilium chrysogenum isolates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Molds are ubiquitously distributed in nature and their spores can be found in the atmosphere even at high altitudes. The difficulty of controlling these undesirable molds, as well as the growing interest of the consumers in natural products, have been

The crystal structure of human transport and Golgi organization 2 homolog (TANGO2) suggests a cysteine N‐terminal nucleophile (Ntn) hydrolase

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 82, Issue 4, Page 383-396, April 2026.
This study reports the first crystal structure of human TANGO2, mutations of which are responsible for TANGO2 deficiency disorder. The crystallographic analysis demonstrates that interactions between heme and TANGO2 are nonspecific, helping to address ongoing questions about the role of TANGO2 as a heme‐trafficking protein.Recently, there has been ...

Antifungal and enzymatic activities of endophytic fungi associated with Tamarix nilotica

open access: yesPlant Signaling & Behavior
Fungal endophytes were recovered from Tamarix nilotica (Tamaricaceae) roots and stems collected in Taif, Saudi Arabia. A total of 49 different taxa were identified. The overall colonization rate of root and stem segments was 30.6%. A total of 49 isolates

Cellular and extracellular siderophores of Aspergillus nidulans and Penicillium chrysogenum [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
Aspergillus nidulans and Penicillium chrysogenum produce specific cellular siderophores in addition to the well-known siderophores of the culture medium.

Active Polymers Containing Silver Nanoparticles Combined With Formulations Based on Essential Oils: Quality Effect on Cereals and Dairy Products

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Bioactive nanocomposite diffusion films containing plant essential oils (EOs) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were fabricated and tested against foodborne pathogens, spoilage organisms, and insects in packaged foods. Films were based on chitosan (CH), poly(butylene adipate‐co‐terephthalate) (PBAT), and polylactic acid (PLA), containing ...
