Crystalline Structure of PEO−Resorcinol and PEO−Methylresorcinol Complexes
Macromolecules, 1999The molecular structure of the polyethylene oxide (PEO) molecular complexes with resorcinol (RES) and 2-methylresorcinol (two allotropic forms α-2MR and β-2MR) have been solved and refined by an X-ray diffraction technique (the “whole-pattern method”). The space group is Pna21 for RES (a = 10.54 A, b = 10.18 A, c = 9.89 A), Pbca for β-2MR (a = 11.07 A,

Micellar Dynamics in Aqueous Solutions of PEO−PPO−PEO Block Copolymers
Langmuir, 1997The dynamics of poly(ethylene oxide)−poly(propylene oxide)−poly(ethylene oxide) micelle rearrangements were studied using iodine laser temperature jump experiments with light-scattering detection. Two relaxation processes were detected: the first, fast one was accompanied by an increase in scattered light intensity, while the second, slow process was ...

PEO−PPO−PEO Block Copolymers at the Emulsion Droplet−Water Interface
Langmuir, 2000ζ potential measurements were used to determine the adsorbed layer thickness of poly(ethylene oxide)−polypropylene oxide−poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO−PPO−PEO) block copolymers at the surfaces of poly(...

Perspectives on: PEO-PPO-PEO Triblock Copolymers and their Biomedical Applications
Journal of Bioactive and Compatible Polymers, 2006Thermo-reversible polymeric gels represent an interesting class of materials that can be tailored for a wide range of applications. The triblock poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) based systems, PEO-PPO-PEO, show thermoreversible gelation around body temperature and, therefore, are particularly suitable for biomedical ...

Surface modification of polyethylene terephthalate using PEO-polybutadiene-PEO triblock copolymers
Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, 2000The initial step of thrombus formation on blood-contacting biomaterials is known to be adsorption of blood proteins followed by platelet adhesion. It is generally accepted that surface modification of the biomaterials with poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) substantially reduces protein adsorption and cell adhesion.

Micellar enhanced ultrafiltration using PEO–PPO–PEO block copolymers
Journal of Membrane Science, 1998Abstract The solubilization characteristics of PEO–PPO–PEO (polyethyleneoxide–polypropyleneoxide–polyethyleneoxide) block copolymers for aqueous solutions containing 1-naphthol and phenol, respectively, were investigated to examine their possibility of use as new surfactants for forming micelles in MEUF (micellar enhanced ultrafiltration).

Adsorption of PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymers at silica
Macromolecules, 1992It is found that block PEO-PPO-PEO copolymers adsorb at silica in much the same way as a PEO homopolymer of a comparable molecular weight, independent of the PO content in the range of 0-30%. The pH dependence is similar to that displayed by PEO. Good agreement is found between the ellipsometry experiments and the experiments on colloidal silica ...

Characterization of a PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymer system
2008The investigated EO27-PO39-EO27 triblock copolymer, Pluronics P-85, is a nonionic surface-active agent which has a monomeric molecular weight of 4600, of which 500% corresponds to the PEO component. P-85 exist in complex states of aggregation in aqueous solution.

PEO Temporary Network in PEO/PMMA Blends: NMR Approach
Macromolecules, 1998Transverse magnetic relaxation properties of protons attached to PEO chains were investigated in compatible blends of hydrogenated PEO and deuterated PMMA by varying the PEO concentration and the temperature. The onset of segmental fluctuations is observed for samples that do not crystallize (φ ≤ 0.31); it occurs above Tg(PEO) but below the blend glass

Phase Behavior and Lubricity of Aqueous PEO-PPO-PEO and PPO-PEO-PPO Triblock Copolymer Solutions
Tribology Transactions, 2016ABSTRACTAqueous triblock copolymer solutions are potential low-cost, eco-friendly lubricants. However, as a solution, their phase changes with copolymer concentration and solution temperature, raising the question, “Does the phase change affect the formation of adsorbed layer and the lubrication performance?” This article studies the copolymer solution
