Improvement of the quality in hydroponically grown fresh aromatic herbs by inducing mild salinity stress is species-specific

open access: yesFolia Horticulturae, 2021

A New Experimental Setup to Study the Olfactory Behaviour of Trichogramma Egg Parasitoids

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
We developed an experimental setup to assess odor‐induced egg‐laying behavior in tiny egg‐parasitoid wasps. This Y‐shaped olfactometer, coupled with an AI‐based image‐recognition model, automatically quantifies egg parasitism by Trichogramma wasps. Olfactory‐driven egg‐laying preferences were analyzed using Bayesian inference.

Menthofuran regulates essential oil biosynthesis in peppermint by controlling a downstream monoterpene reductase [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2003
(+)-Pulegone is a central intermediate in the biosynthesis of (-)-menthol, the most significant component of peppermint essential oil. Depending on environmental conditions, this branch point metabolite may be reduced to (-)-menthone en route to menthol, by pulegone reductase (PR), or oxidized to (+)-menthofuran, by menthofuran synthase ...
