Loss of E3 ligase HvST1 function substantially increases distal crossover frequency

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 3, Page 1325-1341, February 2026.
Summary This study characterizes the function of a grass‐specific E3 ubiquitin ligase, HvST1, in regulating synapsis and crossover (CO) formation during meiosis in barley (Hordeum vulgare). In large‐genome cereals, COs are predominantly restricted to distal chromosomal regions, limiting genetic recombination and breeding flexibility.

Peanut skin bioactive extract on pectin and gelatin candies: is it a potential dietary antioxidant delivery system for health improvement?

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 2, Page 1070-1078, 30 January 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Peanuts (Arachis hypogaea L.) are widely consumed worldwide, with Brazil being a major producer. Their skins, usually discarded as processing waste, comprising about 3% of the total peanut weight, generated an estimated 1.50 Mt of waste in 2021.

A membranous nephropathy variant mimicking minimal change disease

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology: Clinical Research, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract This study characterizes a novel disease pattern of membranous nephropathy (MN) that exhibits overlapping clinicopathological features with minimal change disease (MCD), termed ‘MCD‐like MN’. Patients with histologically confirmed MN showing sparse and segmental subepithelial electron‐dense deposits (EDD) but clinically resembling MCD were ...

Bone‐Derived dECM Hydrogels Support Tunable Microenvironments for In Vitro Osteogenic Differentiation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 1, 9 January 2026.
A tunable methacrylated decellularized bone matrix hydrogel (dECM‐MA) is developed to support 3D culture of human osteoblasts. The hydrogel preserves bone‐specific ECM cues and allows precise control over mechanical properties. This system provides a customizable platform for studying osteogenic differentiation and modeling bone tissue environments for
