Burden and Correlates of Multiple Chronic Infections and Their Associations With Cancer Incidence in Chinese Adults: A Large Case‐Cohort Study
International Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 5, Page 1282-1295, 1 September 2026.While several oncogenic pathogens cause site‐specific cancers, uncertainties remain about many other chronic infections and combined pathogen effects, especially in non‐Western populations. Using a large case–cohort study nested within the China Kadoorie Biobank, the authors found that co‐infection was common, with a mean of 10 pathogens per individual.Ling Yang, Jonathan Clarke, Lea Kröller, Christiana Kartsonaki, Hannah Fry, Rima Jeske, Andrew Gordon, Sarah Clark, Michael Hill, Daniel Avery, Yiping Chen, Huaidong Du, Jun Lv, Dianjianyi Sun, Canqing Yu, Liming Li, Iona Y. United European Gastroenterology Journal, Volume 14, Issue 7, September 2026.ABSTRACT Background
Data on the global prevalence of alarm features in the general population and among individuals with disorders of gut–brain interaction (DGBI) are limited. Methods
We analysed data from the Rome Foundation Global Epidemiology Study to estimate the prevalence of fourteen self‐reported alarm features in the global population and among Jessica Sjölund, Jóhann P. British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 8, Page 2465-2473, August 2026.Aims
At Koç University School of Medicine, a one‐week rational pharmacotherapy (RPHM) programme, modelled after WHO 6‐step, has been introduced in the fourth‐year curriculum to improve prescription skills. For efficient problem‐based learning (PBL) sessions on a prespecified topic, students need to brush up on basic pharmacology knowledge, so we ...Sinem Ezgi Gülmez, Gülnihal Özcan, Hakan S. British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 8, Page 2834-2852, August 2026.Abstract Background and Purpose
Drug–drug interactions (DDIs) are associated with an increased risk of adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Hospitalized children are particularly vulnerable to DDIs and ADRs due to polypharmacy, frequent use of unlicensed or off‐label medications, and dosing regimens often extrapolated from adult data.Emilie Laval, Sylvain Goutelle, Inesse Boussaha, Xavier Dode, Yanis Mimouni, Kim An Nguyen, Behrouz Kassai +6 morewiley +1 more sourceIncreasing the reporting of adverse drug reaction‐related hospitalizations using an ICD‐10‐based identification workflow: A multicentre study from Switzerland
British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 8, Page 2937-2948, August 2026.Background
Reporting adverse drug reactions (ADRs) is essential for drug safety. In Switzerland, healthcare professionals are legally required to report serious and unlabelled ADRs, yet under‐reporting remains widespread. We tested a novel method to increase reporting of ADR‐related hospitalizations.Georgia Anita Weber, Sophie‐Charlotte Bartel, Michael Boch, Christoph Rosen, Michael Bodmer, Balthasar Luzius Hug, Thomas Stammschulte, Patrick E.
