Kinoplastid papain-like cystein peptidases
Cysteine peptidases are important for growth and survival of kinetoplastid parasites. The best characterised are those homologous to mammalian cathepsins B and L.

Allergenicity reduction of cow's milk proteins using latex peptidases [PDF]
The present study evaluated four laticifer fluids as a novel source of peptidases capable of hydrolyzing proteins in cow’s milk. The latex peptidases from Calotropis procera (CpLP), Cryptostegia grandiflora (CgLP), and Carica papaya (CapLP) were able to ...

Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

Endosymbiosis in Monoxenous Trypanosomatids: Biological and Metabolic Aspects
Endosymbiosis is a necessary process in eukaryotic evolution, yet the steps leading to full integration remain poorly understood. Trypanosomatids provide a comparative framework to study this transition through two independent systems representing ...
