CircCCNB1 expression is down‐regulated in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC); thus, less NF90 protein is bound to circCCNB1 and more binds to pri‐miRNAs, blocking their (pri‐miRNAs) binding to DGCR8 and inhibiting the processing and generation of miR‐15b‐5p/miR‐7‐1‐3p. Furthermore, decreased miR‐15b‐5p/miR‐7‐1‐3p promotes the expression of the target genes

CD146 is required for VEGF-C-induced lymphatic sprouting during lymphangiogenesis
VEGF-C is essential for lymphangiogenesis during development and tumor progression. VEGFR-3 is the well-known cognate receptor of VEGF-C to regulate lymphatic migration and proliferation, but the receptor of VEGF-C in regulating lymphatic sprouting, the ...

Solution structure of a bacterial microcompartment targeting peptide and its application in the construction of an ethanol bioreactor [PDF]
Targeting of proteins to bacterial microcompartments (BMCs) is mediated by an 18-amino-acid peptide sequence. Herein, we report the solution structure of the N-terminal targeting peptide (P18) of PduP, the aldehyde dehydrogenase associated with the 1,2 ...

This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Structural Stability and Immunogenicity of Peptides [PDF]
We investigated the role of peptide folding stability in peptide immunogenicity. It was the aim of this thesis to implement a stability criterion based on energy computations using an AMBER force field, and to test the implementation with a large dataset.

Sequence-dependent modification of Trp by the Pmc protecting group of Arg during TFA deprotection [PDF]
The extent of transfer of the Pmc protecting group from the guanidine group of arginine to the side chain of tryptophan depends on the spacial distance of these side chains.

Development of a hypersensitive periodate-cleavable amino acid that is methionine- and disulfide-compatible and its application in MHC exchange reagents for T cell Characterisation [PDF]
Incorporation of cleavable linkers into peptides and proteins is of particular value in the study of biological processes. Here we describe the synthesis of a cleavable linker that is hypersensitive to oxidative cleavage as the result of the periodate ...

The roles and applications of extracellular vesicles in cancer
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are minute versions of cells limited by a lipid bilayer containing cytoplasm from the cell that releases them, but without a nucleus and thus unable to self‐reproduce. EVs contain multiple molecules (proteins, lipids, glycans, and nucleic acids) they can induce complex responses in cells.

The architecture of amyloid-like peptide fibrils revealed by X-ray scattering, diffraction and electron microscopy [PDF]
Structural analysis of protein fibrillation is inherently challenging. Given the crucial role of fibrils in amyloid diseases, method advancement is urgently needed.

Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′
