Resistance and Resilience of Sulfidogenic Communities in the Face of the Specific Inhibitor Perchlorate

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Hydrogen sulfide is a toxic and corrosive gas, produced by the activity of sulfate-reducing microorganisms (SRM). Owing to the environmental, economic and human-health consequences of sulfide, there is interest in developing specific inhibitors of SRM ...

Studies on perchlorate levels in powdered infant formulas available on the Polish market

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, 2021
Perchlorate has been acknowledged as a health threat due to its ability to interfere with iodine uptake by the thyroid gland. Infants and developing newborns have been considered as the most vulnerable groups to the perchlorate toxicity. A crucial source

4-Butylanilinium perchlorate [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2011
In the crystal structure of the title salt, C(10)H(16)N(+)·ClO(4) (-), the 4-butyl-anilinium cation is mirror symmetric, the butyl C atoms and anilinium N atom and 1,4-position C atoms of the benzene ring being located on the mirror plane; the perchlorate anion is also mirror symmetric, with two O atoms and one Cl atom lying on the mirror plane ...

Functional Redundancy in Perchlorate and Nitrate Electron Transport Chains and Rewiring Respiratory Pathways to Alter Terminal Electron Acceptor Preference

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Most dissimilatory perchlorate reducing bacteria (DPRB) are also capable of respiratory nitrate reduction, and preferentially utilize nitrate over perchlorate as a terminal electron acceptor.

Bond length of perchlorate at different temperatures: X-ray and neutron comparison. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The averages (average deviations from the mean are given in square brackets) of uncorrected Cl-O bond distances in a perchlorate anion from an X-ray diffraction analysis of (N-{2-[bis(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)amino]ethyl}pyridine-2-carboxamidato)(nitric oxide ...

Hexacarbonyltechnetium(I) perchlorate [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2008
The title compound, [Tc(CO)6]ClO4, was synthesized by the reaction of [TcCl(CO)5] with AgClO4, followed by acidification with HClO4 under a CO atmosphere. The [Tc(CO)6]+ cation has close to idealized octahedral geometry, with the bond angles between cis-CO groups close to 90° and the Tc—C bond lengths in the range 2.025 (3)–2.029 (3)Å.

Stratospheric Gas‐Phase Production Alone Cannot Explain Observations of Atmospheric Perchlorate on Earth

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
Perchlorate has been observed in many environments on Earth and Mars but its sources remain poorly quantified. In this study, we use a global three‐dimensional chemical transport model to simulate perchlorate's gas‐phase photochemical production ...

A Carbocation Substituted Clay and its Styrene nanocomposite [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A substituted tropylium ion can be ion-exchanged onto montmorillonite to give a novel organically-modified clay. One can prepare a polystyrene nanocomposite of this clay by emulsion, but not bulk, polymerization.

Hypotheses for near-surface exchange of methane on Mars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Curiosity rover recently detected a background of 0.7 ppb and spikes of 7 ppb of methane on Mars. This in situ measurement reorients our understanding of the Martian environment and its potential for life, as the current theories do not entail any ...

Room-temperature structural phase transition in the quasi-2D spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet Cu(pz)$_2$(ClO$_4$)$_2$

open access: yes, 2019
Cu(pz)$_2$(ClO$_4$)$_2$ (with pz denoting pyrazine C$_4$H$_4$N$_2$) is a two-dimensional spin-1/2 square-lattice antiferromagnet with $T_{\mathrm{N}}$ = 4.24 K.
