Bernoulli Percolation Above Threshold: An Invasion Percolation Analysis

open access: yesThe Annals of Probability, 1987
Using the invasion percolation process, we prove the following for Bernoulli percolation on \({\mathbb{Z}}^ d\) \((d>2):\) (1) exponential decay of the truncated connectivity, \(\tau '_{xy}\equiv P(x\) and y belong to the same finite cluster)\(\leq \exp (-m\| x- y\|)\); (2) infinite differentiability of \(P_{\infty}(p)\), the infinite cluster density ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

The role of conductive dopants in polymer cholesteric liquid crystals

open access: yesMacedonian Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, 2014
Variety of conductive dopants were used to modify the electric properties of polymer cholesteric liquid crystals. Different types of carbon blacks, carbon nanotubes, as well as metallic particles were used as conductive dopants in this work.

Continuum percolation thresholds in two dimensions

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2012
A wide variety of methods have been used to compute percolation thresholds. In lattice percolation, the most powerful of these methods consists of microcanonical simulations using the union-find algorithm to efficiently determine the connected clusters, and (in two dimensions) using exact values from conformal field theory for the probability, at the ...

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

The Threshold for Jigsaw Percolation on Random Graphs

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2017
Jigsaw percolation is a model for the process of solving puzzles within a social network, which was recently proposed by Brummitt, Chatterjee, Dey and Sivakoff. In the model there are two graphs on a single vertex set (the `people' graph and the `puzzle' graph), and vertices merge to form components if they are joined by an edge of each graph.
