Sensor fusion: let's enhance the performance of performance enhancement

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2012
AbstractTypical in-filed technology used for human movement assessment is a single tool such as a video camera. However, there are drawbacks with this system. Understanding various human actions e.g. swimming kinematics, or the legality of a bowling action in cricket, is important for performance analysis.

Enhancement in performance of quantum battery by ordered and disordered interactions

open access: yes, 2020
Considering ground state of a quantum spin model as the initial state of the quantum battery, we show that both ordered and disordered interaction strengths play a crucial role to increase the extraction of power from it.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Investigating weight loss resistance across the menopausal transition: a preliminary quantitative survey of resistance-trained women

open access: yesJournal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition
Background Many women enter midlife unaware of the physiological and hormonal changes associated with the menopause transition. This period is commonly characterized by increased fat mass and decreased lean body mass.

Performance evaluation and enhancement of Dendro [PDF]

open access: yes
DENDRO is a collection of tools for solving Finite Element problems in parallel. This package is written in C++ using the standard template library (STL) and uses the Message Passing (MPI). Dendro uses an octree data-structure to solve image-registration

Cooling Performance of a Novel Circulatory Flow Concentric Multi-Channel Heat Sink with Nanofluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Heat rejection from electronic devices such as processors necessitates a high heat removal rate. The present study focuses on liquid-cooled novel heat sink geometry made from four channels (width 4 mm and depth 3.5 mm) configured in a concentric shape ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.
