Clinical implications of monitoring tissue perfusion in cardiogenic shock

open access: yes, 2018
Cardiogenic shock is a clinical state of acute circulatory failure secondary to a reduction in cardiac output to a level that is inadequate to supply tissues with sufficient oxygen for cellular metabolism.

Microgel‐Based 3D Bioprinting: A Convergent Strategy Integrating Material Design, Jamming Dynamics, and Biological Function

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Microgel‐based 3D printed constructs represent a compelling and versatile innovation for engineering architecturally complex, dynamically remodelable, and biocompatible structures with high structural fidelity and bioactivity. By integrating material design, biofabrication, and biological function, these systems enable the development of adaptive ...

Effect of vibration on muscle perfusion: a systematic review

open access: yes, 2013
Vibration has become of increasing interest to health professionals, primarily owing to reports that vibration can increase tissue blood flow. The aim of this review was to investigate the available scientific evidence on the effects of exogenous ...

Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.

Natural Biomaterials for Osteochondral Repair: From Source to Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Biological origin‐guided overview of natural biomaterials and therapeutic strategies for osteochondral tissue engineering. The circular diagram categorizes representative materials and strategies into plant/algae‐derived, microbial‐derived, animal‐derived, and human‐derived sources, centered on an osteochondral defect repair model.

Clinical application of heparin-coated perfusion equipment with special emphasis on patients refusing homologous transfusions

open access: yes, 1991
Clinical application of heparin-coated cardiopulmonary bypass equipment during perfusion with low systemic heparinization is reported with special emphasis on patients refusing any transfusion of homologous blood or blood products.

Cluster analysis of the signal curves in perfusion DCE-MRI datasets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Pathological studies show that tumors consist of different sub-regions with more homogeneous vascular properties during their growth. In addition, destroying tumor's blood supply is the target of most cancer therapies.

An investigation of the relationship between BOLD and perfusion signal changes during epileptic generalised spike wave activity

open access: yes, 2008
In pathological conditions interpretation of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) results can be difficult. This is due to a reliance on the assumed coupling between neuronal activity and changes in cerebral blood flow (CBF) and oxygenation.

Localized Temperature Monitoring in Mouse Brain during Light Delivery via a Non‐Planar Tapered Fiber‐Integrated µRTD Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report a multifunctional tapered optical fiber integrating a conformal micro‐resistance temperature detector (µRTD) for local, real‐time thermometry during optical stimulation. The platform combines light‐delivery and temperature sensing within a minimally invasive footprint, enabling detection of sub‐degree cortical heating under representative ...
