Mechanical energy conversion to electricity through periodically stress-induced martensitic transformation in Co-Ni-Ga

Scripta Materialia, 2023
We anticipate and demonstrate experimentally the mechanical-to-electrical energy conversion through the variation of magnetization resulting from a periodical stress-induced martensitic transformation in the single crystalline Co-Ni-Ga ferromagnetic shape memory alloy.

Bone metabolism against mechanical stress shows differing responses in growth periods and adulthood

Physiotherapy, 2015
1.8± 1.3 cm at P2. In the condition UCon, the COG of all subjects displaced to dominant side at both postures. The hip joint angular velocity of Con was significantly higher than that of UCon in both postures (p< 0.01). Moreover, the jerk cost on an anteroposterior direction and the right and left direction was significantly larger Con than UCon in ...

Induction Period of Oxidation and Mechanism of Fracture of Polyolefins under Mechanical Stress

International Journal of Polymeric Materials, 1993
Abstract Induction period of oxidation of solid polyolefins and mechanisms of fracture under mechanical stress are reviewed. It is proposed that the existence of a true induction period at the uninhibited oxidation of solid polyolefins should be attributed to uneven spatial distribution of oxidation sites and slow migration of radicals through the ...

Temperature Sensitivity Control and Mechanical Stress Effect of Boron-Doped Long-Period Fiber Gratings

Fiber and Integrated Optics, 2001
We will present in this work the quantitative analysis of the relationship between the doping concentrations of GeO 2 and B 2 O 3 in the core and cladding regions and the temperature sensitivity of the resonance wavelength shift in long-period fiber gratings (LPFGs).

Synergetic effect of topological cue and periodic mechanical tension-stress on osteogenic differentiation of rat bone mesenchymal stem cells

Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, 2017
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are able to self-renew and differentiate into tissues of mesenchymal origin, making them to be significant for cell-based therapies, such as metabolic bone diseases and bone repair. Regulating the differentiation of MSCs is significant for bone regeneration.

Effect of mechanical stresses on hydrogen distribution in VA subgroup of the periodical table of elements

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2001
It is shown that mechanical stresses caused by gradients of solute atom concentration and temperature gradients may have a substantial effect on the heat of transport by thermodiffusion. A general equation for hydrogen distribution due to thermodiffusion in terms of these factors is derived.
