A Periodic Analog of the Schwarzschild Solution

open access: yes, 1994
We construct a new exact solution of Einstein's equations in vacuo in terms of Weyl canonical coordinates. This solution may be interpreted as a black hole in a space-time which is periodic in one direction and which behaves asymptotically like the ...

The epithelial barrier theory proposes a comprehensive explanation for the origins of allergic and other chronic noncommunicable diseases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Exposure to common noxious agents (1), including allergens, pollutants, and micro‐nanoplastics, can cause epithelial barrier damage (2) in our body's protective linings. This may trigger an immune response to our microbiome (3). The epithelial barrier theory explains how this process can lead to chronic noncommunicable diseases (4) affecting organs ...

From omics to AI—mapping the pathogenic pathways in type 2 diabetes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Integrating multi‐omics data with AI‐based modelling (unsupervised and supervised machine learning) identify optimal patient clusters, informing AI‐driven accurate risk stratification. Digital twins simulate individual trajectories in real time, guiding precision medicine by matching patients to targeted therapies.

Periodic solutions of spatially periodic hamiltonian systems

open access: yesJournal of Differential Equations, 1992
Abstract : This work is concerned with the study of existence and multiplicity of periodic solutions of Hamiltonian systems of ordinary differential equations z=J(Hz(z,t) + f(t)) when the Hamiltonian H(z,t) = H(p,q,t) is periodic in the variable q and superlinear in the variable p.

Relative Periodic Solutions of the Complex Ginzburg-Landau Equation

open access: yes, 2005
A method of finding relative periodic orbits for differential equations with continuous symmetries is described and its utility demonstrated by computing relative periodic solutions for the one-dimensional complex Ginzburg-Landau equation (CGLE) with ...

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Spatial chaos in weakly dispersive and viscous media: a nonperturbative theory of the driven KdV-Burgers equation

open access: yes, 1996
The asymptotic travelling wave solution of the KdV-Burgers equation driven by the long scale periodic driver is constructed. The solution represents a shock-train in which the quasi-periodic sequence of dispersive shocks or soliton chains is interspersed

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

On periodic solutions in the Whitney's inverted pendulum problem

open access: yes, 2018
In the book `What is Mathematics?' Richard Courant and Herbert Robbins presented a solution of a Whitney's problem of an inverted pendulum on a railway carriage moving on a straight line.

Comparing self‐reported race and genetic ancestry for identifying potential differentially methylated sites in endometrial cancer: insights from African ancestry proportions using machine learning models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Integrating ancestry, differential methylation analysis, and machine learning, we identified robust epigenetic signature genes (ESGs) and Core‐ESGs in Black and White women with endometrial cancer. Core‐ESGs (namely APOBEC1 and PLEKHG5) methylation levels were significantly associated with survival, with tumors from high African ancestry (THA) showing ...
