Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Variable Stars in the MACHO Collaboration Database [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The MACHO Collaboration`s search for baryonic dark matter via its gravitational microlensing signature has generated a massive database of time ordered photometry of millions Of stars in the LMC and the bulge of the Milky Way.

Multimode δ Sct stars from the Zwicky Transient Facility Survey

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
We obtain the largest catalog of multimode δ Sct stars in the northern sky to date using the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) Data Release 20. The catalog includes 2254 objects, of which 2181 are new to our study.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Minute-cadence Observations of the Galactic Plane with the Wide Field Survey Telescope (WFST): Overview, Methodology, and Early Results

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
As the time-domain survey telescope of the highest survey power in the Northern Hemisphere currently, the Wide Field Survey Telescope (WFST) is scheduled to hourly/daily/semiweekly scan the Northern sky up to ∼23 mag in four optical ( ugri ) bands ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A Search of Periodic Variable Stars in the LMC by JWST Photometry

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
Based on high-resolution near-infrared photometric data from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) targeting the Large Magellanic Cloud, this study attempts to evaluate the feasibility and sensitivity limits of variable star detection in crowded stellar ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Characterization of CoRoT target fields with Berlin Exoplanet Search Telescope: Identification of periodic variable stars in the LRa1 field

open access: yes, 2008
International audienceIn this paper, we report on observations of the CoRoT LRa1 field with the Berlin Exoplanet Search Telescope (BEST). The current paper is part of a series of papers describing the results of our stellar variability survey.
