The chronobiology of migraine: a systematic review

open access: yesThe Journal of Headache and Pain, 2021
Background The paroxysmal nature of migraine is a hallmark of the disease. Some patients report increased attack frequency at certain seasons or towards the end of the week, while others experience diurnal variations of migraine attack onset.

Preparation and characterization of renal cell peptides from fetal rats for their antitumor activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study aimed to prepare renal cells (RCs) from fetal rats which were digested by enzymes. Candidate peptides RCPs were characterized by capillary HPLC and MS and their bioactivity was predicted using peptideranker. The predicted top 10 bioactive peptides were synthesized.

Sensitivity analysis of residency and site fidelity estimations to variations in sampling effort and individual catchability Análisis de sensibilidad en estimaciones de residencia y fidelidad al sitio a variaciones en el esfuerzo y capturabilidad individual

open access: yesRevista Mexicana de Biodiversidad, 2012
Mark-recapture techniques are fundamental for assessing marine mammal population dynamics and individual temporal patterns. Since biases imposed by field conditions are generally unknown, we simulated variations in sampling effort (m) and maximum ...

$R_0$ and the global behavior of an age-structured SIS epidemic model with periodicity and vertical transmission

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2014
In this paper, we study an age-structured SIS epidemic model with periodicity and vertical transmission. We show that the spectral radius of the Fréchet derivative of a nonlinear integral operator plays the role of a threshold value for the global ...

Nitric oxide‐forming nitrite reductases in the anaerobic ammonium oxidizer Kuenenia stuttgartiensis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Anammox bacteria remove fixed nitrogen from their environment via anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) with nitrite as electron acceptor and dinitrogen gas as product. The first anammox step is the conversion of nitrite to nitric oxide by nitrite reductase.

Fractional Differential Equations with Impulsive Effects

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
This paper discusses impulsive effects on fractional differential equations. Two approaches are taken to obtain our results: either with fixed or changing lower limits in Caputo fractional derivatives.

Polydatin ameliorates ovalbumin‐induced asthma in a rat model through NCOA4‐mediated ferroautophagy and ferroptosis pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this research, a rat model of asthma was created using OVA, and polydatin served as an intervention. By inhibiting ferroautophagy mediated by NCOA4 and averting ferroptosis, polydatin has been demonstrated to reduce asthma. This work presents new ideas for investigating the mechanism of polydatin's ability to alleviate asthma, in addition to ...

Unveiling Temporal Cyclicities in Seismic b-Values and Major Earthquake Events in Japan by Local Singularity Analysis and Wavelet Methods

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
Studying the temporal characteristics of earthquake activity contributes to enhancing earthquake prediction capabilities. The seismic b-value is a key indicator describing the relationship between seismic frequency and magnitude.

Periodicity Pitch Perception

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2020
This study presents a computational model to reproduce the biological dynamics of “listening to music.” A biologically plausible model of periodicity pitch detection is proposed and simulated.

Fetal Akinesia/Hypokinesia and Arthrogryposis of Neuromuscular Origin: Etiologic Groups, Genetics, and Phenotypic Spectrum

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To provide a comprehensive clinical and genetic characterization of individuals with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC), focusing on the distribution of genetic etiologies across the neuromuscular spectrum and comparing myogenic and neurogenic subtypes. Methods A total of 105 individuals with AMC were clinically and genetically
