Case Report: Flap Management in Cochlear Implant to Avoid Magnet Retention Difficulties

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
This study presents a surgical technique for positioning the cochlear implant receiver coil above the temporal muscle, avoiding tissue resections and ensuring proper magnetic retention postoperatively. Preoperative assessment of flap thickness is crucial to prevent magnetic coupling issues and reduce long‐term complications.

Conservation of Neuron‐Astrocyte Correlated Activity in Developing Sensory Pathways

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 5, May 2026.
Astrocytes and neurons in the superior colliculus exhibit spatiotemporal correlated activity before eye opening. Each neuronal wave is followed by a calcium wave in astrocytes. Spillover of glutamate activates mGluR5 and mGluR3 in astrocytes. ABSTRACT Neurons in developing sensory organs exhibit prolonged burst firing before the onset of sensory ...

Micro‐Stimulation Timing Framed Around an Averaged Theta Period of Stimulation Determines Hippocampal Recruitment in Cued Fear Conditioning

open access: yesHippocampus, Volume 36, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The importance of precise timing of neuronal activity, relative to ongoing slower oscillations, is reshaping the engram theory and our understanding of how memories are encoded and stored. The hippocampal theta‐wave phase‐encoding of neuronal firing predicts behavioral outcomes and cognitive performance in memory tasks.

Bicomponent Mapping of Cortical Bone Using a New Interleaved UTE Imaging Sequence

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 5, Page 2755-2764, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose Ultrashort echo time (UTE) MRI enables direct imaging of cortical bone and quantification of its water compartments via bicomponent T2* modeling. However, conventional approaches require multiple separate dual‐echo scans due to limitations in gradient power. This approach is prone to inter‐scan inconsistencies such as motion and signal
