Revascularized Periosteum Transplantations

European Surgical Research, 1983
A controlled experiment was performed in 56 African pygmy goats, analyzing the bone-forming capacity of two different revascularized periosteum grafts in midshaft tibial defects. At radiological examination revascularized tibial periosteum grafts firmly bridged the defect within 8 weeks, revascularized costal periosteum grafts did not.

Pumping the Periosteum: A Feasibility Study

Annals of Plastic Surgery, 2022
Purpose Gradual elevation of periosteum from the bone surface is known to promote the adaptation of soft tissues and the formation of hard tissues. The aim of our study was to estimate the benefit of periosteal distraction osteogenesis (PDO) on de novo bone formation in a rat model.

Cryopreservation of Periosteum for Transplantation

Cryobiology, 1993
The concept of biological joint resurfacing has been widely studied, with encouraging results to date in both animal and human experiments. Most investigators have studied autograft tissue, however, in the clinical setting, situations might arise where autografting would not be suitable.
