A gene signature for post-infectious chronic fatigue syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background: At present, there are no clinically reliable disease markers for chronic fatigue syndrome. DNA chip microarray technology provides a method for examining the differential expression of mRNA from a large number of genes.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

PROLIFERATIVE AND SECRETORY RESPONSE OF MONONUCLEAR LEUCOCYTES TO COMBINED INFLUENCE OF ETHAMBUTOL AND MYCOBACTERIAL ANTIGENE

open access: yesМедицинская иммунология, 2014
. The article deals with results of studying combined effects of ethambutol and protein antigen of Мycobacterium tuberculosis upon proliferative response and cytokine-producing ability of peripheral blood mononuclear cells in patients with infiltrative ...

Relevance of monocytic features for neovascularization capacity of circulating endothelial progenitor cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Background— Transplantation of ex vivo expanded circulating endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) from peripheral blood mononuclear cells improves the neovascularization after critical ischemia. However, the origin of the endothelial progenitor lineage and

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Dopamine Receptor Gene Expression Changes in Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells from Schizophrenic Patients Treated with Haloperidol and Olanzapine

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inflammation, 2009
We investigated dopamine receptor gene expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of schizophrenic patients before and after treatment. Also dopamine receptor genes expression profile was compared in two treatment groups including haloperidol and ...

Peripheral blood mononuclear cells cryopreservation and transportation

open access: yesJOURNAL OF BONE MARROW TRANSPLANTATION AND CELLULAR THERAPY, 2022
Chimeric antigen receptor-T (CAR-T) cells have emerged as a treatment option for patients with hematologic malignancies. Usually, their manufacture has been carried out by specialized and centralized laboratories. A useful strategy, which allows a better logistical organization, is the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) cryopreservation and ...

Human Immunodeficiency Virus-Infected Individuals Contain Provirus in Small Numbers of Peripheral Mononuclear Cells and at Low Copy Numbers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
In human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected individuals, the proportion of circulating mononuclear cells (PBMCs) which carry HIV provirus and the number of HIV proviral sequences per infected PBMC have been matters for conjecture.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.
