Quercetin Remodels the Tumor Microenvironment To Improve the Permeation, Retention, and Antitumor Effects of Nanoparticles.

open access: yesACS Nano, 2017
Our previous work demonstrated that Wnt16 expression in cisplatin-damaged tumor-associated fibroblasts is a key factor contributing to cisplatin resistance in malignancies.

The epithelial barrier theory proposes a comprehensive explanation for the origins of allergic and other chronic noncommunicable diseases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Exposure to common noxious agents (1), including allergens, pollutants, and micro‐nanoplastics, can cause epithelial barrier damage (2) in our body's protective linings. This may trigger an immune response to our microbiome (3). The epithelial barrier theory explains how this process can lead to chronic noncommunicable diseases (4) affecting organs ...

Importance of the surface exchange kinetics as rate limiting step in oxygen permeation through mixed-conducting oxides [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Attention is drawn to the possible involvement of the surface exchange kinetics in limiting the rate of oxygen permeation through mixed-conducting oxide ceramics. A theoretical approach is provided with which it is possible to distinguish between surface

TRPM8 levels determine tumor vulnerability to channel agonists

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRPM8 is a Ca2+ permissive channel. Regardless of the amount of its transcript, high levels of TRPM8 protein mark different tumors, including prostate, breast, colorectal, and lung carcinomas. Targeting TRPM8 with channel agonists stimulates inward calcium currents followed by emptying of cytosolic Ca2+ stores in cancer cells.

Hydrogen Permeation in Fusion Materials and the Development of Tritium Permeation Barriers

open access: yesPlasma and Fusion Research, 2020
Fuel retention and hydrogen permeation in the first wall of future fusion devices are crucial factors. Due to safety issues and in order to guarantee an economical reactor operation, tritium accumulation into reactor walls and permeation through walls have to be estimated and prevented.

Ageism in Rheumatology: The Health Care Professional's Perspective

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Ageism (age‐based stereotypes, prejudice, or discrimination) is prevalent and linked to prolonged disability and reduced lifespan in older adults. Little is known about ageism within rheumatology. This study explores the health care professional's (HCP) perception of the care of older adults and how ageist attitudes or perspectives may impact

The Effect of Temperature, Sulfonation, and PEG Addition on Physicochemical Characteristics of PVDF Membranes and Its Application on Hemodialysis Membrane

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Chemistry, 2021
Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane and its derivative have been investigated the permeation ability for creatinine and urea. The membrane was made by an inversion precipitation system in N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) and water as non-solvents.
