Amphiphilic Transdermal Permeation Enhancers: Structure-Activity Relationships
Current Medicinal Chemistry, 2005Transdermal drug delivery offers numerous advantages over conventional routes of administration; however, poor permeation of most drugs across the skin barrier constitutes a serious limitation of this methodology. One of the approaches used to enlarge the number of transdermally-applicable drugs uses permeation enhancers.

Transdermal self-permeation enhancement of ibuprofen
Journal of Controlled Release, 2004The objective of this study was to prepare saturated solutions of ibuprofen, of different concentrations, and to investigate their effect on permeation of ibuprofen across rat epidermis. Ibuprofen saturated solutions were prepared using 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 M disodium hydrogen phosphate solution (DHP).

Amino acid derivatives as transdermal permeation enhancers
Journal of Controlled Release, 2013Transdermal permeation enhancers are compounds that temporarily decrease skin barrier properties to promote drug flux. In this study, we investigated enhancers with amino acids (proline, sarcosine, alanine, β-alanine, and glycine) attached to hydrophobic chain(s) via a biodegradable ester link.

Effect of Permeation Enhancers on Buccal Absorption
Arzneimittelforschung, 2011This paper reports an investigation on matrices based on the mucoadhesive polymers hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and sodium alginate, intended for sublingual administration of 1 mg lorazepam (LZ, 7-chloro-5-(2-chlorophenyl)-1,3-dihydro-3-hydroxy-2H-1,4-benzodiazepin-2-one, CAS 846-49-1).

Polymeric Permeation Enhancers
2009There are enough low molecular permeation enhancers available to increase the absorption of hydrophilic drugs, but all of them have the disadvantage of strongly interfering with the phospholipid membranes and of damaging them. Polymeric permeation enhancers are a class of substances which are able to selectively trigger mechanisms to selectively open ...

Effects of Adhesives and Permeation Enhancers on the Skin Permeation of Captopril
Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2001To formulate a transdermal drug delivery system of captopril, monolithic adhesive matrix type patches containing 20% captopril, different pressure-sensitive adhesives, and various permeation enhancers were prepared using a labcoater. The effects of the adhesives and permeation enhancers on skin permeation of captopril from the prepared patches were ...

Enhanced insulin absorption from sublingual microemulsions: effect of permeation enhancers
Drug Delivery and Translational Research, 2014Microemulsions of insulin (50 IU/mL) comprising permeation enhancers were formulated for sublingual delivery. Circular dichroism (CD) spectra indicated conformational stability, while chemical stability was confirmed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

[Influence of permeation enhancers on transdermal permeation of anemonin].
Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica, 2008To investigate the effect of different permeation enhancer on transdermal permeation of anemonin through human skin. The permeation experiments were performed using human skin on modified Franz diffusion cells in vitro. The concentrations of anemonin in receptor compartment at specified time points were determined by HPLC.

Effect of Iontophoresis and Permeation Enhancers on the Permeation of an Acyclovir Gel
Current Drug Delivery, 2010The purpose of the present study was to explore the combined effect of chemical enhancers and iontophoresis on the in vitro permeation of acyclovir gel across porcine skin. Acyclovir gel was formulated using carbopol 940 and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose K4M (HPMC K4M). Effect of drug concentration on the delivery of acyclovir was examined.

Effect of permeation enhancers and organic acids on the skin permeation of indapamide
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2008The aim of present study was to investigate the transdermal properties of indapamide and to explore the efficacy of various permeation enhancers and organic acids with regard to the percutaneous absorption of indapamide. Permeation experiments were performed in vitro, using rat abdominal skin as a barrier. In the permeation studies, 2-chamber diffusion
