Generalized weighted permutation entropy

open access: yesChaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 2022
A novel heuristic approach is proposed here for time series data analysis, dubbed Generalized weighted permutation entropy, which amalgamates and generalizes beyond their original scope two well established data analysis methods: Permutation entropy and Weighted permutation entropy.

Permutation Entropy for Graph Signals [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Signal and Information Processing over Networks, 2022
Entropy metrics (for example, permutation entropy) are nonlinear measures of irregularity in time series (one-dimensional data). Some of these entropy metrics can be generalised to data on periodic structures such as a grid or lattice pattern (two-dimensional data) using its symmetry, thus enabling their application to images.

Use of Composite Multivariate Multiscale Permutation Fuzzy Entropy to Diagnose the Faults of Rolling Bearing

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
The study focuses on the fault signals of rolling bearings, which are characterized by nonlinearity, periodic impact, and low signal-to-noise ratio.

Permutation entropy revisited [PDF]

open access: yesChaos, Solitons & Fractals, 2019
Time-series analysis in terms of ordinal patterns is revisited by introducing a generalized permutation entropy $H_p(w,L)$, which depends on two different window lengths: $w$, implicitly defining the resolution of the underlying partition; $L$, playing the role of an embedding dimension, analogously to standard nonlinear time-series analysis.

Ordinal Pattern Based Entropies and the Kolmogorov–Sinai Entropy: An Update

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
Different authors have shown strong relationships between ordinal pattern based entropies and the Kolmogorov−Sinai entropy, including equality of the latter one and the permutation entropy, the whole picture is however far from being complete. This

Analysis of the synergistic complementarity between bubble entropy and dispersion entropy in the application of feature extraction

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2023
Most of the existing studies on the improvement of entropy are based on the theory of single entropy, ignoring the relationship between one entropy and another. Inspired by the synergistic relationship between bubble entropy (BE) and permutation entropy (

Modeling of investment attractiveness of countries using entropy analysis of regional stock markets [PDF]

open access: yesGlobal Journal of Environmental Science and Management, 2019
The current study focuses on the problem of determining investment attrаctiveness of countries by means of monitoring regional stock markets. The method of using the permutation entropy as a model of investment attractiveness estimation is suggested.

Rolling Bearing Fault Diagnosis Based on VMD-MPE and PSO-SVM

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
The goal of the paper is to present a solution to improve the fault detection accuracy of rolling bearings. The method is based on variational mode decomposition (VMD), multiscale permutation entropy (MPE) and the particle swarm optimization-based ...

Comparative analysis of dynamic state recognition between permutation entropy and weighted permutation entropy

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2021
Abstract Permutation entropy (PE) and weighted permutation entropy (WPE) are indexes of the complex system. In this paper, the nonlinear sequence of two chaotic states is simulated by Logistic mapping, and the effectiveness of the PE and WPE algorithms in chaotic state recognition is compared and analyzed with different sliding step ...
