Index-Based Persistent Document Identifiers [PDF]

open access: yesInformation Retrieval, 2005
The infrastructure of a typical search engine can be used to calculate and resolve persistent document identifiers: a string that can uniquely identify and locate a document on the Internet without reference to its original location (URL). Bookmarking a document using such an identifier allows its retrieval even if the document's URL, and, in many ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Identifying NFDI Consortia with Persistent Identifiers

open access: yes
This document presents the official recommendation of the PID4NFDI Coordination Hub for assigning persistent identifiers (PIDs) to the consortia of Germany’s National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI). To ensure consistent, interoperable, and FAIR identification across the NFDI landscape, PID4NFDI recommends the use of DataCite Digital Object ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

DataCite and linked data

open access: yesJLIS.it, 2013
Science is global, it needs global standards, global workflows and is a cooperation of global players. But science is carried out locally by local scientists that are part of local infrastructures with local funders.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
