The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Multiplicity of Homoclinic Solutions for a Class of Nonperiodic Fourth-Order Differential Equations with General Perturbation

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
In this paper, we investigate a class of nonperiodic fourth-order differential equations with general perturbation. By using the mountain pass theorem and the Ekeland variational principle, we obtain that such equations possess two homoclinic solutions ...

Analytical Method for Magnetic Field of Eccentric Magnetic Harmonic Gear

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Eccentric magnetic harmonic gears (EMHG) can achieve high speed ratio transmission and large torque output by modulating the air gap length between permanent magnets (PM). The analytical method is based on the boundary perturbation method.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Molecular interactions from the density functional theory for chemical reactivity: Interaction chemical potential, hardness, and reactivity principles

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2022
In the first paper of this series, the authors derived an expression for the interaction energy between two reagents in terms of the chemical reactivity indicators that can be derived from density functional perturbation theory.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Existence and multiplicity of solutions for a class of ( p , q ) $(p,q)$ -Kirchhoff system with combined nonlinearities on graphs

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems
By using the well-known mountain-pass theorem and Ekeland’s variational principle, we prove that there exist at least two fully nontrivial solutions for a ( p , q ) $(p,q)$ -Kirchhoff elliptic system with the Dirichlet boundary conditions and ...
