Isolation of peste des petits ruminants virus from the Sudan

Research in Veterinary Science, 1984
Based on clinical signs, the presence of a rinderpest related antigen and the ability of rinderpest immune serum to prevent virus isolation, rinderpest was diagnosed in two outbreaks in goats in central Sudan during 1971 and 1972. Two viruses isolated from these goats have been re-examined both serologically and by the inoculation of experimental ...

Development of a competitive ELISA using monoclonal antibodies for detecting neutralizing antibodies against Peste-des-petits-ruminants virus.

The Veterinary Journal
Peste-des-petits-ruminants (PPR) is an acute, contact infectious disease caused by peste-des-petits-ruminants virus (PPRV) infection. PPRV mainly infects goats, sheep and other small ruminants, posing a serious threat to the development of the livestock ...

Recent epidemiology of peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV)

Veterinary Microbiology, 2002
Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is an economically important viral disease of goats and sheep first described in west Africa in the 1940s. The virus has been circulating in parts of sub-Saharan Africa for several decades and in the Middle East and southern Asia since 1993, although the first description of the virus in India dates to 1987.

Vimentin inhibits peste des petits ruminants virus replication by interaction with nucleocapsid protein.

Virology
The Peste des petits ruminant virus (PPRV) is a member of the Paramyxoviridae family and is classified into the genus Measles virus. PPRV predominantly infects small ruminants, leading to mortality rates of nearly 100%, which have caused significant ...

History and current status of peste des petits ruminants virus in Tanzania [PDF]

open access: yesInfection Ecology and Epidemiology, 2016
Peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV) causes the acute, highly contagious disease peste des petits ruminants (PPR) that affects small domestic and wild ruminants. PPR is of importance in the small livestock-keeping industry in Tanzania, especially in rural areas as it is an important source of livelihood.

Serological studies with the virus of peste des petits ruminants in Nigeria

Research in Veterinary Science, 1979
It was possible to distinguish separate serological responses when experimental goats were inoculated with either rinderpest virus or peste des petits ruminants virus. Examination of field samples established that peste des petits ruminants occur commonly in Nigerian sheep and goats although some villages have escaped recent infection.
