Underwater performance of polyurethane - PETN explosives

Journal of Energetic Materials, 1992
Abstract Detonation velocities and pressures for Polyurethane Foam - PETN charges at a density of 0.6 g/cm3 have been determined experimentally and compared to theoretical predictions obtained by the TIGER code, using the BKW equation of state with the RDX fit and a new fit developed for low density explosives.

Reactive Molecular Dynamics of Hypervelocity Collisions of PETN Molecules

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2009
Born-Oppenheimer direct dynamics classical trajectory simulations of bimolecular collisions of PETN molecules have been performed to investigate the fundamental mechanisms of hypervelocity chemistry relevant to initiating reactions immediately behind the shock wavefront in energetic molecular crystals.

Group Interaction Modelling of PETN

2019
Group Interaction Modelling (GIM) is a relatively simple model developed to predict the properties of polymers based upon the interaction of a potential function between two adjacent molecules, and a thermodynamic energy balance equation relating the various energy contributions to an ensemble of molecular units.

Pulse Laser Ignition of Preheated PETN

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2004
Nd:YAG pulse laser was used to ignite powdered and preheated PETN. To enhance efficiency of laser absorption by PETN, it was mixed with a small amount of carbon black powder. In this study, we will propose two‐pulse laser ignition method, the first pulse is a long pulse to heat up PETN up to melting point, then second laser to ignite the heated PETN ...
