Adiabatic temperature rise of pulverized fuel ash (PFA) concrete

open access: yes, 2011
Owing to the less exothermic pozzolanic reaction of pulverized fuel ash (PFA) compared to cement hydration, the addition of PFA can reduce the heat generation of concrete during its hardening.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Joint Awareness after Patellofemoral Arthroplasty Evaluated with the Forgotten Joint Score: A Comparison Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, 2021
Objective The aim of the present study was to compare the forgotten joint score (FJS) in patients with isolated patellofemoral osteoarthritis who underwent patellofemoral arthroplasty (PFA) versus those who underwent total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and to ...

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Benchmarking PFA grouts for magnesium sulfate bearing exposures

open access: yes, 1998
This paper describes a study carried out to examine the sulfate resistance of a wide range of pulverized-fuel ash (PFA) grouts. A number of material variables were considered reflecting those used in practice, including PFA content, and cement and PFA ...

Functional positioning in robotic patello-femoral arthroplasty: a step-by-step technique

open access: yesSICOT-J
Patello-femoral arthroplasty (PFA) is an effective treatment option for isolated patello-femoral osteoarthritis. However, challenges remain regarding implant positioning and patellar tracking.

Novel Platelet Function Analyzer 200 Predicts Blood Transfusion After Elective Cardiac Surgery in Patients Suspended on Dual Antiplatelet Therapy

open access: yesClinical and Applied Thrombosis/Hemostasis, 2023
The value of platelet function test in timing of cardiac surgery remains uncertain. Researches on correlation between Platelet Function Analyzer 200 (PFA-200) and bleeding after elective cardiac surgery are still inadequate.
