Phage typing of Mycobacterium kansasii
Tubercle, 1980An improved phage typing scheme of M. kansasii is presented. Ultrasonic treatment of the bacterial suspensions was successfully used in order to obtain homogeneous bacterial growth and to improve the reproducibility of the typing. By means of 9 phages 14 lysis patterns (phage types) could be distinguished. The phage typing was applied to 450 strains of

Phage typing of Staphylococcus intermedius
Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1991Staphylococcus intermedius, a coagulase-positive staphylococcal species, is a common canine pathogen and a rare human wound pathogen. A total of 145 strains of S. intermedius (ATCC 29663, 4 reference strains, 4 human isolates, 44 canine infection isolates, and 92 isolates from canine gingiva) were screened for lysogenic phage by a modified Fisk method.

PHAGE-TYPING of typhoid and paratyphoid-B bacilli is now generally recognized as an indispensable aid in the control of typhoid and paratyphoid-B fever and is carried out in many countries according to internationally agreed standard methods1. On the other hand, the development of a useful typing procedure of Salm. paratyphi A has been long delayed.

Phage-typing ofSalmonella weltevreden based on lysogeny I. The phage-typing system
Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 1977All of the 1070 strains of Salmonella weltevreden tested were lysogenic, temperate phage being demonstrable in 83.9% of the strains in broth culture, 6.4% in mixed culture and the remaining 9.7% after induction by UV-irradiation and MC treatment. A phage-typing scheme for Salmonella weltevreden based on the host range of temperate phages was developed.

Phage Typing ofSalmonella Typhi in the Netherlands
Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek, 1950A survey has been given of the results of phage typing of strains ofS. typhi found in Holland. It has been shown, that type A includes a different group of strains in systems drawn up with different Vi phages. An auxiliary system — to be used besides the system ofCraigie andYen — and a few new types, have been described.

A typing scheme forS.virchow using 5 phages is described. Since all strains ofS.virchow proved lysogenic it was necessary to propagate the phages on lysogenic cultures. Strains from Denmark, Nigeria and Sweden fell with one exception in each case, into characteristic and distinct types. The majority of English strains were of yet of another phage type.
