Self-assembly of Escherichia coli phage shock protein A

open access: yes, 2014
The Phage shock protein (Psp) response is an extracytoplasmic stress response. The central component of this system is PspA, a protein that mediates the physiological response to membrane stress.

Toward Material‐Specific Peptides From in Silico Guided Peptide Engineering to Target PET in the Presence of PS

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a computational–experimental strategy to engineer material‐binding peptides toward polymer specificity. Molecular dynamics simulations identified residues driving polystyrene binding, enabling targeted substitutions that greatly reduced polystyrene affinity while preserving PET binding.

Phage types of Salmonella Enteritidis isolated from clinical and food samples, and from broiler carcasses in Southern Brazil

open access: yesRevista do Instituto de Medicina Tropical de São Paulo, 2003
272 isolates of Salmonella Enteritidis (111 isolated from frozen broiler chicken carcasses, 126 from human food and other biological materials involved in food poisoning outbreaks and 35 from different poultry materials) were selected for phage typing ...

Biophysical characterization of Vitrio El Tor typing phage e5

open access: yes, 1993
Vibrio cholerae typing phage e5, which can lyse only the El Tor strains of V. cholerae, was characterized. The phage had a polyhedral head 51 nm in diameter and a short tail 13 nm in length.

Alternating Shear Force of Respiration Regulates Cell Interactions of Fibroblasts and Macrophages to Promote Soft Tissue Integration of Chest Wall Polyetheretherketone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Given that PEEK chest wall implants induce shear force at the soft tissue‐implant interface due to respiratory motion in the early in vivo post‐implantation stage. We confirmed that this mechanical stimulus triggers the PIEZO1/ITGB1/YAP1 signalling axis in L929 and the STAT6/p‐STAT6 pathway in RAW264.7, which in turn mediates adhesion and migration of ...

CRISPR: A Useful Genetic Feature to Follow Vaginal Carriage of Group B Streptococcus

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017
Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) and Cas (CRISPR-associated proteins) play a critical role in adaptive immunity against mobile genetic elements, especially phages, through their ability to acquire novel spacer sequences.

Alterations in phage-typing patterns in vancomycin-intermediate Staphylococcus aureus

open access: yes, 2003
The ability of phage-typing and Smal chromosomal RFLPs to conclude appropriate strain relatedness between a collection of 12 well-characterized in vitro-selected vancomycin-intermediate Staphylococcus aureus (VISA) strains and their seven vancomycin ...

Identification of Cohesive Ends and Genes Encoding the Terminase of Phage 16-3 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Cohesive ends of 16-3, a temperate phage of Rhizobium meliloti 41, have been identified as 10-base-long, 3′-protruding complementary G/C-rich sequences. terS and terL encode the two subunits of 16-3 terminase.
