Phase-shifted linear partial-response modulation

Proceedings of 1995 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2002
Partial-response modulations are widely used for spectrum shaping and bandwidth reduction. Linear partial-response signaling (PRS) is a well-known form of linear coded modulation which was proposed by Lender (1963). Due to the lack of efficient algorithms for maximum likelihood detection the research on the subject concentrated on the simplest forms of

94 GHz phase-shift-keying modulator

International Journal of Infrared and Millimeter Waves, 1996
This paper describes a kind of low insertion loss phase-shift-keying modulators used in 94GHz digital communications systems. A BPSK modulator with a insertion loss lower than 3.8dB has been achieved by connecting a circulator and a fin-line PIN diode phase shifter in series. The bandwidth is 2.5GHz given a phase error of ±50.

Pulsewidth modulator phase shift

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1980
Phase shift for the ramp-comparator pulsewidth modulator (PWM) between a continuous input control signal and the signal frequency component of the output is analyzed. It is shown that transport lag is not implicit to these PWM systems in general but rather depends upon the existence of explicit delays between the time at which a switching decision is ...

Hyper Phase Shift Keying (HPSK) Modulation

2007 Conference Record of the Forty-First Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2007
A new modulation technique that uses four orthonormal basis functions is proposed. Using four orthonormal basis functions provides an advantage over most traditional modulation techniques such as quadrature phase shift keying and quadrature amplitude modulation that only possess two degrees of freedom.

Phase-shifting laser diode interferometer using pulse modulation

Applied Optics, 2012
A phase-shifting laser diode interferometer that uses direct pulse modulation is proposed and demonstrated. We found that a laser beam with a wide range of wavelength variation at constant optical power could be generated when a pulsed current was injected into the laser diode.

Phase shifting mask modulated laser patterning on graphene

Nanotechnology, 2016
A one-step graphene patterning method is developed in this paper. A phase shifting mask is used to modulate incident laser beam spatially and generate graphene patterns by laser heating. Periodic graphene nanoribbon and nanomesh structures are fabricated by employing 1D and 2D phase shifting masks, respectively.

New phase shift modulator for resonant converters

2015 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2015
Resonant converters are important in the search for high efficiency energy use and low electromagnetic interference (EMI). In this paper, nonlinarities of the traditional phase shift modulator (PSM) application to resonant converters are addressed. A new modulator topology, suited for resonant converters, is proposed.

Corrugation-pitch-modulated phase-shifted DFB laser

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 1989
A corrugation-pitch-modulated phase-shifted distributed feedback (DFB) laser is proposed to reduce the spatial-hole-burning effect along the laser cavity. The structure of the proposed corrugation-pitch-modulated phase-shifted DFB laser is illustrated.

Higher-order differential phase shift keyed modulation

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1994
Advanced modulation/demodulation techniques which are robust in the presence of phase and frequency uncertainties continue to be of interest to communication engineers. The authors are particularly interested in techniques which accommodate slow channel phase and frequency variations with minimal performance degradation and which alleviate the need for

Reactance Tube Modulation of Phase Shift Oscillators

Bell System Technical Journal, 1949
This paper describes a basic circuit for reactance tube modulation of phase shift oscillators. The design of suitable phase shift oscillators for frequencies from audio through the ultra-high frequencies is discussed. Experimental performance data derived from several types of frequency modulated phase shift oscillators are presented.
