The phase composition and microstructure development of a construction composite made from sewage sludge and biomass ash

open access: yesMateriales de Construccion
Waste from one industry can often serve as raw material for another. Previous research has shown that sewage sludge stabilized with biomass ash can form a construction composite with “Controlled Low-Strength Material” properties.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Phase-locking analysis at model changepoints.

open access: yes, 2018
ΔPLV is used to measure disruptions in phase-locking of EEG to the tone presentation rate (6.25 Hz) at the time when the model detects a change in the stimulus (i.e., at the changepoint). a) Illustration of ΔPLV calculation.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Excessive Fe Contamination in Secondary Al Alloys: Microstructure, Porosity, and Corrosion Behaviour

open access: yesMetals
The characterisation of aluminium casting alloys with iron concentrations exceeding current standards is essential, as upcycling has recently become a significant concern in achieving a more circular economy.

The baryonic phase in holographic descriptions of the QCD phase diagram

open access: yes, 2012
We study holographic models of the QCD temperature-chemical potential phase diagram based on the D3/D7 system with chiral symmetry breaking. The baryonic phase may be included through linked D5-D7 systems. In a previous analysis of a model with a running

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
