Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Microstructure and Phase Composition of Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia Nanofibers Prepared by High-Temperature Calcination of Electrospun Zirconium Acetylacetonate/Yttrium Nitrate/Polyacrylonitrile Fibers

open access: yesFibers, 2019
For the first time, dense nanofibers of yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia with diameter of ca. 140 nm were prepared by calcination of electrospun zirconium acetylacetonate/yttrium nitrate/polyacrylonitrile fibers at 1100−1300 °C.

Location and chemical composition of microbially induced phosphorus precipitates in anaerobic and aerobic granular sludge [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This work focuses on combined scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM-EDX) applied to granular sludge used for biological treatment of high-strength wastewater effluents. Mineral precipitation is shown to occur in the core

Probable Phase Composition of the Mineral in Bone

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung C, 1980
Abstract Formulas proposed for the mineral of bone were reviewed. Literature data were collected where Ca, P, Na, Mg and CO3 are determined in the same samples. These data were analyzed for their conformity to the above mentioned formulas.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Effect of Air Atomization Pressure at High-Speed Spraying of Gas-Thermal Coating from High-Chromium Steel on its Construction and Wear Resistance

open access: yesМеханика машин, механизмов и материалов, 2018
The influence of the pressure of the atomizing air at high-speed spraying of the gas-thermal coating from high-chromium steel 20Kh13 on the structure and wear resistance of the coating is studied. It is shown that sprayed gas-thermal coatings from 20Kh13

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Composition measurements of crude oil and process water emulsions using thick-film ultrasonic transducers

open access: yes, 2006
This paper presents an experimental study to investigate the suitability of thick-film ultrasonic transducers for composition measurements in heterogeneous mixtures. Following on from earlier developments [G. Meng, A.J. Jaworski, T. Dyakowski, J.M. Hale,

Coherent Phase Equilibria: Effect of Composition-Dependent Elastic Strain

open access: yes, 1994
Recent investigations on coherent equilibria have shed much light on the nature of phase stability. For example, equilibrium phase concentrations are shown to depend on the alloy composition, and two-phase coexistence can terminate at a critical ...
