Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Thermodynamic Study of Lead Silicate Glass Manufacturing Process [PDF]

open access: yesمجله علوم و فنون هسته‌ای, 2014
In this work, silica and Pb3O4 were used for manufacturing lead silicate glass with composition of 40 mole% PbO and 60 mole% SiO2. The chemical changes which occurred by heating of raw materials and the primary chemical products until reaching to the ...

An integrated simulation model towards laser powder bed fusion in-situ alloying technology

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2023
The Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) in-situ alloying is a novel technology for preparing novel alloys efficiently. However, the narrow process window limit its application. A micro-scale integrated simulation model is designed and constructed based on the

Critical entropies and magnetic-phase-diagram analysis of ultracold three-component fermionic mixtures in optical lattices

open access: yes, 2015
We study theoretically many-body equilibrium magnetic phases and corresponding thermodynamic characteristics of ultracold three-component fermionic mixtures in optical lattices described by the SU(3)-symmetric single-band Hubbard model.

Complex phases in the doped two-species bosonic Hubbard Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We study a two-dimensional bosonic Hubbard model with two hard-core species away from half filling using Quantum Monte Carlo simulations. The model includes a repulsive interspecies interaction and different nearest-neighbor hopping terms for the two ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Hierarchical nanocomposite formation and strengthening mechanisms in a phase-separated CrFeCoNiCu high-entropy alloy

open access: yesMaterials & Design
This study investigates a CrFeCoNiCu high-entropy alloy (HEA) exhibiting hierarchical phase separation into Cu-rich low-entropy (LE) and CrFeCoNi-rich high-entropy (HE) regions, driven by a miscibility gap and monotectic reaction.

Exact treatment of magnetism-driven ferroelectricity in the one-dimensional compass model

open access: yes, 2014
We consider a class of one-dimensional compass models with antisymmetric Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya exchange interaction in an external magnetic field. Based on the exact solution derived by means of Jordan-Wigner transformation, we study the excitation gap ...

Phase diagram and thermodynamics of the three-dimensional Bose-Hubbard model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We report results of quantum Monte Carlo simulations of the Bose-Hubbard model in three dimensions. Critical parameters for the superfluid-to-Mott-insulator transition are determined with significantly higher accuracy than it has been done in the past ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
