Security-Enhanced Electro-Optic Feedback Phase Chaotic System Based on Nonlinear Coupling of Two Delayed Interfering Branches

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
In this paper, a novel electro-optic feedback phase chaotic system based on nonlinear coupling of two delayed interfering branches is proposed and analyzed by numerical simulation.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Specific Heat of URu$_{2}$Si$_{2}$ in Fields to 42 T: Clues to the 'Hidden Order'

open access: yes, 2003
The large $\Delta$C observed at 17.5 K in URu$_{2}$Si$_{2}$ is inconsistent with the small, 0.04 $\mu_{B}$ moment measured for the antiferromagnetism observed starting (perhaps coincidentally) at the same temperature.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Scaling Behavior of Heavy Fermion Metals

open access: yes, 2010
Strongly correlated Fermi systems are fundamental systems in physics that are best studied experimentally, which until very recently have lacked theoretical explanations.

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Metallic local-moment magnetocalorics as a route to cryogenic refrigeration

open access: yesCommunications Materials
Commercial adiabatic demagnetisation refrigerators still employ the same hydrated salts that were first introduced over 85 years ago. The inherent limitations of these insulating magnetocalorics – poor thermal conductivity at sub-Kelvin temperatures, low
