Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

A non-contacting ultrasonic phase-sensitive displacement measurement system

open access: yes, 1995
A simple ultrasonic displacement measurement system is described, based on a phase-sensitive detection principle. A low-frequency ultrasonic transducer, operating in continuous-wave mode, is used to transmit a 44.2 kHz acoustic wave to the target body ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Invariance of waveguide grating mirrors to lateral displacement phase shifts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present a method to analyze the coupling of lateral displacements in nanoscale structures, in particular waveguide grating mirrors (WGMs), into the phase of a reflected Gaussian beam using a finite-difference time-domain simulation.

Fidelity Decay for Phase Space Displacements

open access: yes, 2004
In this letter we analyse the behavior of fidelity decay under a very specific kind of perturbation: phase space displacements. Under these perturbations, systems will decay following the Lyapunov regime only. Others universal regimes discussed in the literature are not presented in this case; instead, for small values of the perturbation we observe ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

METODOLOGIE CROMATOGRAFICHE NELLO STUDIO DEI PROCESSI DI ADSORBIMENTO

open access: yes, 2010
In analytical chromatography, the sample we analyze is usually rather dilute and allows the development of a rather straightforward method. Due to the minute concentrations we deal with in analytical chromatography, we face a linear behavior.

FIELD THEORY OF THE DISPLACIVE INCOMMENSURATE PHASE

open access: yesActa Physica Sinica, 1984
In this letter, we derive a multi-harmonic modulation solution of the incommensurate phase of a sinple model by a method like that used to solve pendulum problem in mechanics. This solution reduces to single-harmonic modulatioi at the of high temperature limit and transforms into kink solution at the of low temperature limit.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...
