Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Direction dependent free energy singularity of the asymmetric six-vertex model
The transition from the ordered commensurate phase to the incommensurate gaussian phase of the antiferroelectric asymmetric six-vertex model is investigated by keeping the temperature constant below the roughening point and varying the external fields ...

Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Fidelity Decay for Phase Space Displacements
In this letter we analyse the behavior of fidelity decay under a very specific kind of perturbation: phase space displacements. Under these perturbations, systems will decay following the Lyapunov regime only. Others universal regimes discussed in the literature are not presented in this case; instead, for small values of the perturbation we observe ...

Quantitative study of laterally inhomogeneous wetting films
Based on a microscopic density functional theory we calculate the internal structure of the three-phase contact line between liquid, vapor, and a confining wall as well as the morphology of liquid wetting films on a substrate exhibiting a chemical step ...

This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

A phase-field model for fractures in incompressible solids
Within this work, we develop a phase-field description for simulating fractures in incompressible materials. Standard formulations are subject to volume-locking when the solid is (nearly) incompressible. We propose an approach that builds on a mixed form

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...
