Imaging displacement and strain in the medial gastrocnemius muscle during ankle-joint motion using 2D-ciné DENSE MRI

open access: yes, 2011
Skeletal muscle structure has been defined on both macro and microscopic levels by gross dissection, light- and electron-microscopy. The basic physiological building blocks involve the electromechanical coupling between interlinking actin and myosin ...

Harmonic Phase Shifter for Discrete Amplitude Modulation Technique

open access: yesمجلة النهرين للعلوم الهندسية, 2010
In discrete amplitude modulation or integral-cycle control, subharmonic and higher order harmonic components are generated in the three phases of a three phase system. These harmonic components are found to be unbalanced in phase displacement.

Longitudinal genome‐wide aneuploidy measurements in circulating cell‐free DNA to predict lack of benefit from pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic urothelial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

Real time displacement measurement in sinusoidal phase modulating interferometry [PDF]

open access: yes
A new signal processing system for real time displacement measurement in sinusoidal phase modulating interferometry is described. Although sinusoidal phase modulating interferometry is effective in measuring with high accuracy the displacement of an ...

Effects of Flow Pattern and Pore Size on Immiscible Continuous Three-Phase Displacement

open access: yes, 2015
A single cylindrical capillary is often employed to construct a simplified system for multiphase flow in porous media, which is particularly important to numerous applications such as oil recovery and contaminated land and groundwater remediation. Herein,

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Phase-specific multimodal biomarkers enable explainable assessment of upper limb dysfunction in chronic stroke

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience
BackgroundObjective and precise assessment of upper limb dysfunction post-stroke is critical for guiding rehabilitation. While promising, current methods using wearable sensors and machine learning (ML) often lack interpretability and neglect underlying,

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Weakening the nuclear envelope: Lamin B receptor in melanoma metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LBR‐driven nuclear fragility supports melanoma invasion. A: Melanocyte presents low LBR (Lamin B Receptor) levels, maintaining nuclear integrity and lamina‐chromatin tethering. B: During malignant progression, upregulation of LBR clusters at the INM (Inner Nuclear Membrane) during confined migration causes local lamina weakening and cholesterol ...
