Mechanism of residual oil mobilization after water flooding based on microscopic flow characteristics

open access: yesYouqicang pingjia yu kaifa, 2020
In order to find out the formation mechanism and distribution of residual oil after water flooding and tap the potential of residual oil, a parallel pore micro model has been established based on N-S equation.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Fast and robust three-dimensional best path phase unwrapping algorithm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
What we believe to be a novel three-dimensional (3D) phase unwrapping algorithm is proposed to unwrap 3D wrapped-phase volumes. It depends on a quality map to unwrap the most reliable voxels first and the least reliable voxels last.

Deep artificial neural network-powered phase field model for predicting damage characteristic in brittle composite under varying configurations

open access: yesMachine Learning: Science and Technology
This work introduces a novel artificial neural network (ANN)-powered phase field model, offering rapid and precise predictions of fracture propagation in brittle materials. To improve the capabilities of the ANN model, we incorporate a loop of conditions

Pultruded GFRP Translaminar Fracture Toughness Evaluation Using a Hybrid Approach of Size-Effect and Machine Learning

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The translaminar fracture toughness of pultruded Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymers (GFRP) is influenced by several factors, including the type of matrix, fiber, the fiber volume ratio, the proportion of plies at each angle and the size of the test ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Comparison of Analytical and Numerical Simulations for Underwater Ice Evolution and Nonlinear Dynamics of False Bottoms

open access: yesMathematics
In the present work, a comparative study of a model of the nonlinear solidification of a binary melt in the presence of a quasi-equilibrium mushy region and a binary phase field model of an aqueous solution of NaCl in water is performed.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Experimental Phase Plate Employing a Phase Modulated Active Frequency Selective Surface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A novel method employing a phase modulated frequency selective surface (FSS) to improve the wireless communications coverage of enclosed spaces in the built environment through the filling of black spots is described.
