Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Scintillation modeling with random phase gradient screens

open access: yesJournal of Space Weather and Space Climate
Multiple studies of scintillation phenomena have shown that, in certain situations, the intense phase fluctuations of trans-ionospheric radio signals are associated with the scattering on strong electron density gradients.

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

Low-complexity implementation of convex optimization-based phase retrieval

open access: yes, 2018
Phase retrieval has important applications in optical imaging, communications and sensing. Lifting the dimensionality of the problem allows phase retrieval to be approximated as a convex optimization problem in a higher-dimensional space.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Phase and amplitude gradient waveguide coupled metasurfaces

open access: yesScientific Reports
This paper presents a novel silicon-based metasurface-coated one-dimensional (1D) slab waveguide. The proposed idea can easily engineer and mold guided waves into any desired free-space mode and provide the wavefront control of optical metasurfaces, such

A sharp interface model for the propagation of martensitic phase boundaries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A model for the quasistatic evolution of martensitic phase boundaries is presented. The model is essentially the gradient flow of an energy that can contains elastic energy due to the underlying change in crystal structure in the course of the phase ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Wideband Phase-Gradient Metasurface Antenna With Focused Beams

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
A transmitting lens antenna with focused beams by employing four-layer phase-gradient metasurface (PGMS) is proposed. A wideband slot-coupled antenna is mounted close to the focal position of the PGMS acting as a feed.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
