Autonomous division and integration of anonymous agents by using interaction between oscillators
In this paper, we proposed a system in which robot swarms autonomously divide or merge themselves according to phase gradients emerged by coupled oscillators.

Magnetic properties of dense holographic QCD [PDF]
We investigate the Sakai-Sugimoto model at nonzero baryon chemical potential in a background magnetic field both in the confined phase and in the deconfined phase with restored chiral symmetry. In this case the 8-brane Chern-Simons term becomes important.

Feasibility of Imaging Tissue Electrical Conductivity by Switching Field Gradients with MRI. [PDF]
Tissue conductivity is a biophysical marker of tissue structure and physiology. Present methods of measuring tissue conductivity are limited. Electrical impedance tomography, and magnetic resonance electrical impedance tomography rely on passing external

An example in the gradient theory of phase transitions [PDF]
This paper is devoted to the asymptotic study as \(\varepsilon\rightarrow 0\) of the Ginzburg-Landau energy functional \(F_\varepsilon (u)=\int_\Omega \left(\varepsilon | \nabla^2u| ^2+\varepsilon^{-1}(1-| \nabla u| ^2)^2 \right)dx\), where \(\Omega\) is an open set in \(\mathbb R^n\).

Optical Forces Arising from Phase Gradients [PDF]
We demonstrate both theoretically and experimentally that gradients in the phase of a light field exert forces on illuminated objects, including forces transverse to the direction of propagation. This effect generalizes the notion of the photon orbital angular momentum carried by helical beams of light.

Positioning and Mitigating Mining-Induced Phase Gradients for InSAR Phase Unwrapping
Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has been widely used for deformation monitoring in mining areas. However, the nonlinear high-phase gradients caused by subsidence funnels are a major source of error in accurate measurements, as they present

Geometric complexities of a fault system have a significant impact on the rupture behavior of the fault. The 2021 Mw7.4 Maduo earthquake occurred on a multi-segmented complex sinistral fault in the interior of the Bayan-Har block in the northern Tibetan ...

Diffusion phase-imaging in anisotropic media using non-linear gradients for diffusion encoding.
Diffusion MRI classically uses gradient fields that vary linearly in space to encode the diffusion of water molecules in the signal magnitude by tempering its intensity.

Ferroelectric phase transitions induced by a strain gradient
In perovskite oxide ferroelectrics, gradients of lattice strain are known to induce nanoscale topological structures, leading to novel or enhanced functionality.
