Competitive stochastic noises in coherently driven two-level atoms and quantum interference [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A system of coherently-driven two-level atoms is analyzed in presence of two independent stochastic perturbations: one due to collisions and a second one due to phase fluctuations of the driving field. The behaviour of the quantum interference induced by

Feedforward data-aided phase noise estimation from a DCT basis expansion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This contribution deals with phase noise estimation from pilot symbols. The phase noise process is approximated by an expansion of discrete cosine transform (DCT) basis functions containing only a few terms.

Spectral Weighting Functions for Single-symbol Phase-noise Specifications in OFDM Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
For the specification of phase-noise requirements for the front-end of a HiperLAN/2 system we investigated available literature on the subject. Literature differed in several aspects.

Noise Properties of Superconducting Coplanar Waveguide Microwave Resonators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We have measured noise in thin-film superconducting coplanar waveguide resonators. This noise appears entirely as phase noise, equivalent to a jitter of the resonance frequency.

Discrete-Time Models and Performance of Phase Noise Channels

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society
This paper deals with the phase noise affecting communication systems, where local oscillators are employed to obtain reference signals for carrier and timing synchronizations. The most common discrete-time phase noise channel model is analyzed, with the

Optimal entrainment of circadian clocks in the presence of noise

open access: yes, 2017
Circadian clocks are biochemical oscillators that allow organisms to estimate the time of the day. These oscillators are inherently noisy due to the discrete nature of the reactants and the stochastic character of their interactions.

Characterization of Power-to-Phase Conversion in High-Speed P-I-N Photodiodes

open access: yes, 2011
Fluctuations of the optical power incident on a photodiode can be converted into phase fluctuations of the resulting electronic signal due to nonlinear saturation in the semiconductor.

Mathematical models and simulations of phase noise in phase-locked loops [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2007
Phase noises in Phase-Locked Loops (PLLs) are a key parameter for communication systems that contribute the bit-rate-error of communication systems and cause synchronization problems.

Phase Noise in OFDM

open access: yes, 2022
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique provides high data rate with high spectral efficiency for operating close to the Shanon capacity bounds. With the advantages of simple channel equalization, robustness against frequency selectivity of the channel, and efficient implementation, this is a widely deployed technique.

Phase noise of oscillators with unsaturated amplifiers [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2013
We study the role of amplifier saturation in eliminating feedback noise in self-sustained oscillators. We extend previous works that use a saturated amplifier to quench fluctuations in the feedback magnitude, while simultaneously tuning the oscillator to an operational point at which the resonator nonlinearity cancels fluctuations in the feedback phase.
