Design considerations for high-power VHF radar transceivers: The Poker Flat MST radar phase control system [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Sixty-four separate 50-kW peak-power transmitters are distributed throughout the 200 x 200 meter Poker Flat MST radar antenna array. The relative phase of each transmitter is automatically controlled by a 64-channel unit located in the main building at ...

Phase correction for Learning Feedforward Control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Intelligent mechatronics makes it possible to compensate for effects that are difficult to compensate for by construction or by linear control, by including some intelligence into the system. The compensation of state dependent effects, e.g.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Enhancement of entanglement transfer in a spin chain by phase shift-control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We study the effect of a phase shift on the amount of transferrable two-spin entanglement in a spin chain. We consider a ferromagnetic Heisenberg/XY spin chain, both numerically and analytically, and two mechanisms to generate a phase shift, the Aharonov-

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A multi-shift phase angle control strategy for bidirectional wireless power transmission system

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2022
Using the charging and discharging capability of battery-based loads and a two-way wireless energy transmission system, grid-load balancing can be achieved in both directions.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Control of the transmission phase in an asymmetric four-terminal Aharonov-Bohm interferometer

open access: yes, 2010
Phase sensitivity and thermal dephasing in coherent electron transport in quasi one-dimensional (1D) waveguide rings of an asymmetric four-terminal geometry are studied by magnetotransport measurements.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Polarization-squeezed light formation in a medium with electronic Kerr nonlinearity

open access: yes, 2003
We analyze the formation of polarization-squeezed light in a medium with electronic Kerr nonlinearity. Quantum Stokes parameters are considered and the spectra of their quantum fluctuations are investigated.
