Proposing a Modified Switchable Schiffman Structure to Implement a Wideband and Low-Loss 4-bit Digital Phase Shifter

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper proposes a modified Schiffman structure to implement a wideband, low-loss 4-bit digital phase shifter. Here, low-cost positive intrinsic negative (PIN) diodes are used for electronically controlling the phase states of the phase shifter.

Direct digital control of an efficient silicon+lequid crystal phase shifter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We demonstrate a phase shifter based on a silicon slot waveguide infiltrated with liquid crystal. We achieve a phase shift of 73 pi for a 5V drive voltage, with a voltage-length product of 0.022V.mm around 1V. We can drive the phase shifter directly with

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Ultra-Wideband 4-Bit Distributed Phase Shifters Using Lattice Network at K/Ka- and E/W-Band

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Solid-State Circuits Society
In this article, we introduce an ultra-wideband 4-bit distributed phase shifter using a lattice network. To achieve wider bandwidth, the proposed phase shifter employed an all-pass lattice network instead of the traditional low-pass ladder network. Seven

Energy-efficient integrated silicon optical phased array

open access: yesFrontiers of Optoelectronics, 2023
An optical phased array (OPA) is a promising non-mechanical technique for beam steering in solid-state light detection and ranging systems. The performance of the OPA largely depends on the phase shifter, which affects power consumption, insertion loss ...

A TCAD study on the effect of process parameters on silicon optical phase shifter performance

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2023
On-chip integrated optical phase shifters are an important part of optical phase modulators. The performance of such modulators relies heavily on the phase shifter performance, which in turn depends on multiple process parameters.

Phase Shifter for Millimeter-Wave Frequency Range Based on Glide Symmetric Structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The use of glide symmetry in radiofrequency devices to introduce dispersive effects has been recently proposed and demonstrated. One of these effects is to control the propagation constant of the structure.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
