Spin-wave phase inverter upon a single nanodefect

open access: yes, 2019
Local modification of magnetic properties of nanoelements is a key to design future-generation magnonic devices, in which information is carried and processed via spin waves.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Doppler radar with multiphase modulation of transmitted and reflected signal [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
A microwave radar signal is generated and split by a circulator. A phase shifter introduces a series of phase shifts into a first part of the split signal which is then transmitted by antenna.

Designing scattering-free isotropic index profiles using phase-amplitude equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The Helmholtz equation can be written as coupled equations for the amplitude and phase. By considering spatial phase distributions corresponding to reflectionless wave propagation in the plane and solving for the amplitude in terms of this phase, we ...

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

A D‐band quadrature‐hybrids‐based 5‐bit vector‐modulated phase shifter with low RMS phase error

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2022
This letter presents a D‐band 5‐bit vector‐modulated phase shifter based on quadrature hybrids for D‐band phased arrays. The proposed vector‐modulated phase shifter employs two stages of quadrature hybrid followed with a single‐pole double‐throw switch ...

Continuously variable voltage-controlled phase shifter [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Phase shifter circuit adjusts the phase relationship between a locally generated reference frequency and a received RF signal applied to a phase-coherent detector.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

A Low-Loss Ku-Band Monolithic Analog Phase Shifter [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
A GaAs monolithic Ku-band analog phase shifter integrating 90° branch line coupler with planar varactor diodes has been fabricated for the first time. A phase shift of 109° +- 3° with an insertion loss of 1.8+-0.3 dB was measured from 16 to 18 GHz. A 360°
