Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Texture analysis of deformation induced martensite in an AISI 301L stainless steel: microtexture and macrotexture aspects

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2009
Experiments have been conducted to study the strain induced transformation from austenite to martensite in a metastable AISI 301LN austenitic stainless steel, deformed by uniaxial tension applied along rolling direction.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phase transformation in barium tetraborate

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Bureau of Standards Section A: Physics and Chemistry, 1969
Orthorhombic BaB8O13 (a = 8.550, b = 17.352, c= 13.211 Å, D = 2.927 g/cm3 at 25 °C) transforms reversibly at 700 °C to a high-temperature tetragonal form (a = 8.629, c = 13.252 Å, D = 2.906 g/cm3) stable from 700 °C to the congruent melting point (889 °C) of the compound. The transition is rapid and probably displacive in character.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Phase retrieval for wavelet transforms [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2017
We describe a new algorithm to solve a particular phase retrieval problem, that has wide applications in audio processing: the reconstruction of a function from its scalogram, that is from the modulus of its wavelet transform. It is a multiscale iterative algorithm.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Method for determining phase shift using two-phase interpolation transformation

open access: yesРадіоелектронні і комп'ютерні системи
This study focuses on a method for accurately determining the phase shift between two harmonic signals. The proposed technique compares the waveform of the combined signal, which is obtained by applying a two-phase interpolation transformation, with a ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
