Development and Reproduction of Nesidiocoris tenuis Reuter (Heteroptera: Miridae): The Effect of Temperature, Origin and Food

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Nymphal development took longer at 25°C than 30°C, and the Greek N. tenuis population developed more slowly than the commercial population. Nymphs clearly preferred E. kuehniella eggs over Artemia sp. cysts when both were offered equally. Egg production increased at 30°C, while female longevity declined.

The Effects on Germination and Growth of Bean and Chickpea of Boron Waste

open access: yesSüleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi Fen Dergisi, 2013
: In this study, the effects of two different boron concentrator wastes (A and B) on germination and growth of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) and chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) were investigated.

Economic and Biological Evaluation of Pheromone Trap Types for Western Bean Cutworm, Striacosta albicosta, Monitoring in Dry Edible Bean Fields

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Pheromone trap use for monitoring Striacosta albicosta in dry edible beans was evaluated across multiple trap designs, lure replacement intervals, and insecticide timings. Bucket traps captured the most moths, yet trap counts poorly predicted crop damage.

Eficiência de inseticidas químicos no controle de ninfas de Bemisia tabaci biótipo B no feijoeiro comum. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A mosca-branca Bemisia tabaci é uma das principais pragas do feijoeiro (Phaseolus vulgaris L), causando danos diretos pela sucção de seiva e indiretos pela transmissão de vírus.

Study of the early abortion in reciprocal crosses between Phaseolus vulgaris L. and Phaseolus polyanthus Greenm [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologie, Agronomie, Société et Environnement, 2002
The causes of early embryo abortion in the reciprocal crosses between Phaseolus vulgaris L. and Phaseolus polyanthus Greenm. were studied. Methacrylate resin sections, 2 micron meter thick, of 2 to 6 day-old hybrid seeds were used to examine the stage of

Studies on the major seed proteins of some grain crops [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
The general properties, classification and distribution of plant proteins are discussed within an agricultural context and the protein content and composition of several grain crops are tabulated.

Hairy Roadblock: Stem Trichomes Impede Herbivore Movement in a Species and Instar‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plants have evolved to deploy a vast set of defence mechanisms against insect herbivores, including physical barriers like leaf trichomes with pre and post ingestive effects. Yet, the role of stem trichomes in plant‐herbivore interactions, particularly mobility dynamics, is poorly understood.

Daily Rhythms of Sex Pheromone Emission and Courtship Behaviour in the Neotropical Brown Stink Bug Euschistus heros

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Understanding the chemical and behavioural ecology of the Neotropical brown stink bug, Euschistus heros (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), is essential for developing effective integrated pest management (IPM) strategies in South American soybean production. This study investigated the courtship behaviour and diel periodicity of sex pheromone emission.

The seed coat of Phaseolus vulgaris interferes with the development of the cowpea weevil [Callosobruchus maculatus (F.) (Coleoptera: Bruchidae)]

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2004
We have confirmed here that the seeds of the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris, L.) do not support development of the bruchid Callosobruchus maculatus (F.), a pest of cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp] seeds. Analysis of the testa (seed coat) of the bean
