Mutagenicity of phenanthrene and phenanthrene K-region derivatives
Mutation Research/Genetic Toxicology, 1979Phenanthrene and 9 K-region derivatives, most of them potential metabolites of phenanthrene, were tested for mutagenicity by the reversion of histidine-dependent Salmonella typhimurium TA1535, TA1537, TA1538, TA98 and TA100 and the rec assay with Bacillus subtilis H17 and M45.

Light gas solubility in phenanthrene: the hydrogen—phenanthrene and methane—phenanthrene systems
Fluid Phase Equilibria, 1990Abstract A variable volume equilibrium cell was used to study the hydrogen—phenanthrene and methane—phenanthrene systems. The data were taken along isotherms from 398.2 to 473.2 K and up to pressures of 25.23 MPa. Henry's constants and heats of solution were calculated for both systems.

BIODEGRADATION OF PHENANTHRENE IN SOIL
Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 2001We investigated the potential of an aerobic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH)-adapted consortium to degrade phenanthrene in soil. Optimal degradation conditions were determined as pH7.0 and 30 degrees C with a water content of 100% wt soil/wt water (w/w).

A novel route to substituted phenanthrenes and polycyclic heteroarenes by direct, Pd-catalyzed, intramolecular arylation/heteroarylation of 2-(2-bromoaryl/heteroaryl)-3-(aryl/heteroaryl)-3-(methylthio)acrylonitriles has been ...

The electron affinity of phenanthrene
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2006Phenanthrene is studied by photodetachment-photoelectron spectroscopy. Due to the absence of a parent ion peak in the anion mass spectrum the electron affinity could not be determined directly. However, this absence is the first indication that this molecule has a negative electron affinity. The first three water complexes of phenanthrene were studied,

New syntheses of 1,4-dimethyl-phenanthrene and 9-methyl-phenanthrene
Die Produkte (I) bzw.

Thermoluminescence of phenanthrene
Journal of Luminescence, 1975Abstract The thermoluminescent emission of phenanthrene crystals, UV excited at liquid N2 temperature, is investigated on the basis of a previously proposed kinetic model. It is found to fit quantitatively the glow peak shape and some evidence is obtained that radiative recombinations take place through a two-step process.

The ozonolysis of phenanthrene)
Recueil des Travaux Chimiques des Pays-Bas, 1959AbstractPhenanthrene reacts quickly with one mole of ozone at the 9,10‐double bond. In chloroform a polymeric mono‐ozonide (II) is obtained, which can be converted into diphenic acid. In methanol the reaction takes a different course resulting in the formation of a cyclic methoxy‐hydroxy‐peroxide (V) and a cyclic dimethoxy‐peroxide (VI).

Isolation of phenanthrene-degrading bacteria and characterization of phenanthrene metabolites
World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2006Three aerobic bacterial consortia GY2, GS3 and GM2 were enriched from polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-contaminated soils with water-silicone oil biphasic systems. An aerobic bacterial strain utilizing phenanthrene as the sole carbon and energy source was isolated from bacterial consortium GY2 and identified as Sphingomonas sp. strain GY2B.

Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2014
Alkylated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (alkyl-PAHs) are the predominant form of PAHs in oil, comprising 85-95% of total PAHs. However, little attention has been paid to these chemicals in ecological risk assessment of marine oil spill. A comparative study of the toxic effects of phenanthrene and retene (7-isopropyl-1-methylphenanthrene, an alkyl ...
